VLC for Mobile App Reviews

It would be nice if there was a way to alphabetize the vids by name other than doing it manually. After doing it manually the next time you open the app they are mixed up.

All I want is to play all my musical files one by one. And allow me to jump to next. VLC does not provide this basic feature. I can see the developers put a lot of effort working on how to deploy musics to the phone. That differentiates VLC from the other music players. You have done a marvelous job. Now stop it and prioritize to make the "player" part work. Without basic player functionalities, the product wont survive.

The UI is exactly what I am looking for, but app rarely ever works. When it does work, its not for very long. It will randomly just freeze playback, and there is nothing that can be done to continue. You have to close the player and start from the beginning. If you attempt to seek, it will again freeze after just a few seconds. Dont waste your time, its not worth it.

Only used for video so far, but i love it; finally easy to watch many types of files on iphone6!

Apple watch app doesnt work at all. Also, audio on large files skips once when the screen locks.

I love I can connect to another system on my network to watch videos and that VLC supports external storage on IOS, but if you pause a video and the iPhone/iPad goes to sleep, when you come back VLC crashes and doesnt save your last spot. This needs fixed.

Video player, subtitles, reading formats and wifi sharing are great, but music player dont let you go back while playing a track and sorting in folders is crazy, there is no sort option and by default it is opposite! So you cant listen to a nonstop mix or album. Album covers doesnt show up neither.

Fantastic app with lots of features not available elsewhere.

This is so much better than loading videos through iTunes. You dont have to recode them and they download great on wifi. I think the controls when youre viewing work better too.

I feel this the best Video app out there. Works with tons of formats and even plays 4K videos on iPhone 6S and higher. I really like the drag and drops wifi system that circumvents iTunes sync completely. Now as a contrast: I dont like the direction Apple is going with the TV App ( Formerly Video App). Its full of crud adult rated ads and I dont like the lack of filter features with the App Store. So VLC is a great offline experience

Like its desktop counterpart, VLC for iOS is the Swiss Army knife of alternative media players. It plays most video formats and audio formats without question. Its also the simplest way to play just about any streaming audio from the Internet. The major downsides are lack of good playlist control, as well as still needing iTunes in some cases to transfer files, but overall its a must-have on any iOS device.

I havent had any issues so far, plays the usual formats and odd ones such as .flv. Havent experienced any crashing issues like some other reviewers. Works great and I like how I can (relatively) easily add videos from my computer.

My iPhone would be no use to me if it werent for this app!

Easy to transfer your media files like .mkv .iso to iPad or iPhone and watch/view offline. You will need storage to save it on iDevices. Very fast and no conversion needed.

Ive been using this app to connect to my local network (WD my cloud) and then connecting TV shows and movies to Apple TV! So useful app and essential to me! Thanks

This is a wonderful app but unlike the Pc version has some issues. Hopefully the devs can improve it under the hood so that it may run more efficiently. Overall does a great job and even lets you download stuff so that you may watch or listen to it later. Some people are giving it negative reviews but considering what you are paying for - absolutely nothing and no ads as well - this app is a gem.

VLC is my default application on my window computer. It does everything and even converts files. But on my Apple devices it simply does not show on itunes as they say so I am unable to transfer anything. Too complicated for me to transfer via URL or other icloud or WiFi means.

What kind of media app cant shuffle a playlist?

This is a great app, Ive been using it for years, but Developers: please please add a function to view videos in the files / groups they are moved to the device in.
