Great player, recent minor issue

Ive been using VLC as a primary media player for some time - its ability to play practically anything is superb. The only issues Ive had on the playback side of things are occasional graphical glitches or stuttering when playing (streaming) high bitrate videos. VLC could also use proper playlist support (the folder playlist works but its limited).

Recently (at least since 2.9.0), Ive had an issue where after connecting to a NAS via smb, it shows up blank rather than full of media (similarly to the result if an incorrect password is used). I am able to connect to this NAS fine with other apps and have triple-checked the password and other connection information. In VLC I can still connect to my desktop computer and play media via smb as usual. I can play media from the NAS via upnp as of 3.0.1, but previously this tended to cause VLC to crash and/or freeze.
